SPEA held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on 29 March 2023 at the Ministry of Education Sports and Recreational Club (SRC), Evans Road.
Before the AGM, we had the privilege to hear from Mr Guo Ming Ming on his research topic on "Characteristics and Trends of Physical Activity and Sedentary Behaviour in Children and Adolescents" as one of the two speakers for the evening.
Our second speaker, Mr Muhmammad Shufi shared on the use of ICT to enhance the quality of teaching in Physical Education, titled "The Potential of Augmented Feedback to Improve Jumping Power and Technique".
After the sharing, the AGM started at 8 pm sharp with the President's Address.
Some of the key highlights reported at the AGM are as follows:
A total of 19 partners for members benefit where 11 of them were secured since 2022.
Active members as of today are 386.
On-going re-envisioning exercise as part of SPEA's 50th Anniversary in 2025.
Amendments to the constitution to ensure relevancy in serving the PE fraternity.
On-going selection for the 2023's SPEA Awards for Outstanding PE Teacher Award (OPETA) and Outstanding Teacher Coach Award (OCTA).
Ms Helen Low was nominated and reappointed as the Hon. Treasurer, while Ms Stella Yap and Mr A Murugapa were nominated and appointed as the Hon. Auditors in the new term. Congratulations to the 3 new appointment holders!
We would like to express our deep appreciation to Mr Ong Bok Liong and Mr Saravana Pillai for their service as Hon. Auditors in the previous term!
