Editor's Note

I hope that you had a good mid-term break. The publication committee has been exploring ways to bring you quality content. We hope the newsletter provides a safe space for practitioners to share their ideas, insights, and innovations that promote sound practices in PE and Sports coaching.

The newsletter also recognises the ongoing efforts to provide quality PE and Sports programmes for our students. Editing these articles confirmed my observations during school visits that the PE fraternity is heading in the right direction.

In our efforts to deliver quality content to our readers, one key initiative is to realign the themes for each newsletter to the skills future for educators (Sfed). In doing so, we hope that more will step forward to share their journey towards professional excellence. We are very encouraged by the number of schools that have stepped forward to share their professional development (PD) journey. I would like to applaud the PE Department for stepping forward to share and contribute to the growth of the PE fraternity.

We are also reaching out to a wider audience, including our counterparts in International Schools based in Singapore. For a start, you will hear what affective learning is like in an International School based in Singapore. Apart from sharing best practices, we welcome a diverse range of articles. We welcome articles that comment on critical issues concerning the fraternity as we make sense of the changing landscape in education and the broader trends affecting us as a community. We have someone to share his thoughts on the challenges in affective learning for PE.

Partnership and extending our network remains our strategic initiative as we recognise that the quality of any PE program will involve the collaboration of key partners and stakeholders. As Outdoor Adventure Learning (OAL) camps resume in full force, it is time that we invite a guest from Outdoor Learning & Adventure Education Association (OLAE) to share his thoughts about Outdoor Adventure Learning. To complement our efforts in promoting affective learning, we have Coach SG to share their Game for Life (GFL) program as they seek to provide a rigorous and structured mentoring programme for sports coaches to deliver values-based sports sessions.

This issue is packed with many valuable insights and innovative ideas. The quality of the SPEA newsletter is dependent on your generosity in sharing and your continuous work to improve the quality of our student's experience in PE. I am grateful for these schools and contributors who have stepped forward to promote a culture of professional excellence in PE and Sports.

SPEA is also working towards establishing a social media presence to fulfil its mission of promoting sound practices in PE and Sports coaching. Contact me if you have a keen interest in PE and a willing heart. No skills are required, just interest in PE and promoting good practices in PE via social media is essential. We will need all the support to create a vibrant fraternity.

Let's make PE happening!
