This article shares how SPEA leveraged data analytics to measure the impact of its newsletter and outreach initiatives, highlighting the growing global influence of Singapore’s PE community. As SPEA celebrates 50 years of excellence, the data remind us that our collective contributions continue to shape the future of physical education.
How far does the impact of SPEA’s impact extend? How many countries has our newsletter reached? Who visits the SPEA website?
These questions shaped my reflection when I first took on the role of overseeing the publication of SPEA’s newsletters in 2022. I often wondered: Does anyone read those articles painstakingly crafted by our contributors? What type of content interests our readers? How can we evaluate the effectiveness of changes we have made to enhance the readership of each article?
Such reflections initiated a long-term effort to put in place a system to enable evidence-based decision making aimed at improving the quality of our newsletter. This work is part of SPEA’s broader mission in raising the professional standards of PE in Singapore
Since 2024, with the secretarial support of past and present members, including Ms Chow Mei Peng, Mr Warrick Tan, Dr Zason Chian, and Mr Tan Jit Jin, we have successfully migrated the SPEA website to Google Site Platform. This transition not only made content creation more seamless but also allowed us to track readership trends through Google Analytics.
We were pleasantly surprised by some of the insights gathered.
The following was reported at the last SPEA AGM on 27 March 2025, which gave us an insight into the impact of our work in PE.
