The Singapore Physical Education Association (SPEA) presented the biennial Outstanding Physical Education Teacher Award 2025 (OPETA), the Outstanding Teacher-Coach Award 2025 (OTCA) and the inaugural Outstanding SPED Physical Education Teacher Award 2025 (OSPETA) at a presentation ceremony held at Summer Garden @ SAFRA Mount Faber on 19 September 2025, held in conjunction with SPEA’s 50th Anniversary Reunion Dinner.
Presented by Ms Liew Wei Li, Director-General of Education, Ministry of Education (MOE), the Awards aim to enhance the professionalism of the PE and sport fraternity, and to encourage and motivate PE and sport teachers to raise their levels of teaching and coaching.
The award winners are as follows:
Outstanding PE Teacher (Merit):
Mr Ong Wei Loon Daryl (Fuhua Primary School)
Outstanding Teacher-Coach Awardees:
Mr Nicholas Ong (Maris Stella High School – Softball)
Ms Denise Yap (Xingnan Primary – Badminton)
Mr Muhammad Iqbal Bin Mohd Sharifuddin (Raffles Institution – Football)
Mr Yeo Eng Wee (Raffles Girls’ Primary – Basketball, Merit)
