Blind Dodgeball (PE at Lighthouse School)
Blind dodgeball was a game developed to teach students with visual impairment the concept of target sports in group setting. Unlike the actual dodgeball where players throw the ball across, in blind dodgeball the players roll the ball across the court with bell inside or alternatively goalball ball is used to play this game as well.
Each student will stand on a line without their shoes hence they are able to feel the line with their feet. Thick masking tape are good material to create the line, which is measured about 3m and student are allowed to move only on their respective line. At all times a foot should be touching the line.
Rules of the Game.
1. The game is a 3 vs 3 format
2. Only one player is allowed to stand on each line
3. All player needs to ensure that one foot is on the line at all time, if both their foot is off the line during the game, they are considered out.
4. No throwing of the ball, only rolling of the ball is allowed.
5. Players are not allowed to catch the ball; they will have to move sideways either right or left to avoid getting hit by the ball.
6. Teams will take turn rolling the ball at each other, once every player in the team have thrown their ball, there will be a change in possession which allow the other team to roll the ball.
7. Each team is only given 10 seconds to hold onto the ball; all three players have to release the ball before 10 second. In the event if someone from the team release the ball after 10 second, the next round the team will have one ball less.
